Introduction to Investor Education

The Options Industry Council (OIC) is an industry resource provided by The Options Clearing Corporation (OCC) and is dedicated to helping individual investors, financial advisors and institutions understand the benefits and risks of exchange-listed options through educational content. OIC delivers its content mainly through our comprehensive website (www.OptionsEducation.org) which features hundreds of podcasts, videos, trading tools and online webinars—and through the efforts of the Investor Education team.

For more than 25 years, the Investor Education team has offered FREE world-class information and education on all things options to individual investors, industry-personnel and advisors, alike. Our team provides support for all OIC educational events and answers questions about all products cleared by OCC. Each year, we answer thousands of options-related questions on topics ranging from industry terms, product specifications, corporate actions and subsequent contract adjustments and engage in discussions about the basic risks and rewards associated with trading options.

Our team also regularly handles more complex strategic and operational questions for specific options trades and strategies. We don’t solicit securities or provide investment recommendations or advice. We simply seek to educate investors and advisors and help these market participants understand the risks and potential benefits of investing with options.

With over 75 years of collective options knowledge and experience, the Investor Education team includes OIC-certified options instructors and content creators, who provide valuable insight on the challenges and successes that investors encounter when trading options. In addition, OIC instructors are responsible for creating the content used in OIC educational offerings, from strategy guides to podcasts to online webinar presentations.
